This morning comes with a yearning I ought always to feel but so often do not. It is a need to talk with God, to hear from Him.
I have a great privilege to join in a work that He is doing by bringing messages for a fellowship that has a special place in my heart. I am to speak Sunday through Wednesday nights of this coming week. As I have prayed and prepared these last couple of weeks, I have been impressed with the urgency to be still and listen. I cannot help but feel that my primary role is to pray.
The more I pray, the more I get the sense that God is gathering the kindling and arranging the wood. The preparations are being made – in whatever scope or capacity He chooses to do so – for a fire.
I don’t know how big or how long or how far it will burn. It doesn’t matter. That’s His business. My business is to pray and listen and follow and obey. It’s exciting to think about. It’s amazing to consider that He would choose to use me, broken tool that I am.
But I need your help. Join me. Pray with me. If God wants to do a great work, I am convinced that the praying of His people is the greatest possible accelerant of that work. So, this is my prayer:
Lord, strike the match.
